I caught up with Simon; the guitarist for Nightmarer. I spoke with Simon on May 29th, 2019 post-show at Lee's Palace show in Toronto. The stop came along the Devastation on the Nation tour ft names like Dark Funeral, Belphegor, Incantation, Vale of Pnath, and Hate on the marquee. It also marked the first tour for Nightmarer as they were on the road in support of their debut record Cacophony of Terror
**NOTE: There are also a couple cameos from some people attending the show
We discussed multiple topics including: -Whether Nightmarer is a Florida or German metal band
-The importance of artist autonomy and having a DIY mindset in the modern age (3:06)
-Nightmarer's songwriting process (6:44)
-If Nightmarer had any hurdles transferring their studio sound to a live show format (9:30)
-Signing with ESP Guitars and what's in Simon's guitar rig (10:34)
-Writing a track about someone close to him passing on and the catharsis it could bring to the listener that has lost someone too (12:48)
-Creating gorgeous vinyl, the role Nightmarer has in the physical distribution of their music, and the response to their debut album Cacophony of Terror (15:14)
-The graphic, vivid nightmare Simon had that formed Nightmarer as a band (17:11)
